Psychological Thriller The Novel Haunted Ending Explained
Maya wanted to have a baby but her husband left her, so she had an anonymous sperm donor from a clinic. Nate was the donor and years later decided he wanted to meet his daughter so he offered his lake house to Maya’s church group to use for a retreat. But his daughter, Charlie Beth, ended up dying at the lake house on the retreat and her spirit is now at the house. Riddled with guilt, Nate devises an elaborate plan to confess to Maya. The last scene is them “living happily ever after,” with their new baby and the spirit of Charlie Beth still with them too.
